Shot Blaster surpasses expectations

Meet our tumble blasting machine, this automated bulk processing plant is the full package when it comes to removing contamination. Commissioned in 2021, the automated Shot Blaster is a vital component used every day at EPC’s Walsall site. Manned by our Machine operative Dave, the Shot Blaster decontaminates and removes any oxidation.

EPC’s automated Shot Blaster was commissioned to deal with surface hardened parts i.e., 10.9 & 12.9 grade parts to reduce hydrogen embrittlement. The parts enter the machine, which is very effective at removing residues like scale or rust without producing hydrogen. The impact media is blasted onto the parts for a set period of time, enabling for removal of contamination, leading to increased pre-treatment capacity.

Large workloads are processed on our #sidasa line each and every day, nonetheless it’s important that safety regulations are met while increasing pre-treatment capacity, and to our delight the automated Shot Blaster does exactly that!
